Description:
Valve has convex dorsal margin and concave ventral margin; apices are narrow, truncate to slightly capitate, sometimes somewhat reflexed; raphe and central nodule as in nominate variety; 4-5 costae in 10µm, having 2-5 rows of alveoli between the costae, often 3 or more; 8-12 rows of alveoli in 10µm; length is 40-125µm, breadth is 8-14µm
