Description:
Valve is more generally linear-lanceolate rather than elliptical-lanceolate; the striae are slightly coarser and more radiate than in var. smithii; central area is larger and more rectangular, with the lateral margins extending to the outer border of the loculi (6-8 in 10µm); other features are as in var. smithii; length is 20-45µm, breadth is 8-11µm; striae count is 15-16 in 10µm (with punctae 13-15 in 10µm)

some specimens have been recorded with smaller and larger length and breadth values than is described
