Description:
Cells are barrel-shaped, with more-or-less tangentially undulate valves, and are strongly striated from the marginal area to halfway towards the middle; all ribs are the same (bumps and thickened ribs are absent), widening towards the margins and narrowing towards the centre (8-9 in 10µm); central area is plain, or with faint radiate, punctate striae, sometimes with a few solitary large punctae; diameter is 10-30µm
