Ecological Preference:
Brackish-Marine
Description:
Valves semi-lanceolate, more robust than in A. coffeiformis, slightly flattened at the centre. Dorsal margin convex, somewhat flatly arched, ventral margin more or less straight. Raphe filiform, located close to the ventral margin. Raphe branches nearly straight or slightly sloping upwards from the poles to the central nodule. Proximal and distal ends dorsally bent. Axial area narrow, linear, central area absent on the dorsal side, on the ventral side more developed as a result of interrupted ventral striae. Dorsal striae distinctly punctate, generally straight at the centre, becoming slightly to moderately radiate towards the ends. Ventral striae short, dense, interrupted at the centre, sometimes hardly visible under LM, especially in smaller examples. This species is characterized by a somewhat elevated conopeum, which is visible under LM as a longitudinal line running parallel to the axial area.
